Karnataka Farmers Get Double Dose: RKVY Funds & MSP Boost
New Delhi, February 16, 2024: In a welcome move, the Union government has released the third installment of Rs 235.14 crore to Karnataka under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) for 2023-24. This brings the total allocated funds to Rs 526.75 crore, with the remaining amount to be released upon utilization.
Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje confirmed the additional allocation, highlighting its purpose: improving agricultural infrastructure, building storage facilities, promoting sustainable practices, and procuring farming equipment. This aims to enhance overall farm productivity and support farmer welfare.
Furthermore, the government approved the procurement of Bengal Gram (Channa) at a minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 5,440 per quintal, ensuring a stable income for farmers in the Rabi season.
